The Swiss Will Surely Disappoint

Once again the Swiss are put into a position where they could demonstrate leadership and responsibility in a world gone mad.

Last year we had to witness the Swiss Gold Referendum debacle where the Swiss voted down a proposal that the Swiss central bank not sell the country's gold and require them to hold a certain amount in reserves.

They voted it down. A mere couple weeks later the Swiss central bank devalued the currency against gold by more than 20%. Brilliant Swiss citizens! You got gamed!

Now, according to Zerohedge, the Swiss are once again going to the ballot box to surely embarrass themselves in the age of Peak Central Banking to vote whether or not to reform the banking industry, specifically, fractional reserve banking.

So they'll probably vote for the status quo to then observe their banking industry implode.

Let's hope they don't embarrass themselves again but I'm not holding out hope.

"...what is shaping up to be another historic referendum on the treatment of money, earlier today the Swiss Federal Government confirmed that it had received enough signatures and would hold a referendum as part of the so-called "Vollgeld", or Full Money Initiative, also known as the Campaign for Monetary Reform, which seeks to ban commercial banks from creating money, and which calls for the central bank to be given sole power to create the money in the financial system.

In other words, an initiative to ban fractional reserve banking, and revert to a 100% reserve."

The world watches the most "informed" democracy on the planet.

"Climate Change" - Don't be a Lemming

From The New American:

In Paris, Scientists Debunk UN “Climate” Hysteria

PARIS — Amid United Nations efforts to shackle humanity to a UN “climate regime” at the COP21 global-warming summit, an international team of scientists and experts from various fields debunked the hysteria at a separate conference in Paris for realists. Essentially, the prestigious scientists said, there is no man-made global-warming crisis. The UN's “climate” efforts, meanwhile, have a much more sinister agenda: Destroying industrial civilization, propping up kleptocrats with Western tax funds, and seizing control of the global economy under the guise of regulating the immensely beneficial “gas of life,” also known as carbon dioxide. The top U.S. senator on the Environment Committee also offered a message of hope to climate realists, saying the “climate charade” by the UN and the Obama administration was dead on arrival.

Churchill on Islam

CHURCHILL ON ISLAM

The attached short speech from Winston Churchill, was delivered by him in 1899 when he was a young soldier and journalist.  It probably sets out the current views of many, but expresses in the wonderful Churchillian turn of phrase and use of the English language, of which he was a past master.  Sir Winston Churchill was, without doubt, one of the greatest men of the late 19th and 20th centuries.  He was a brave young soldier, a brilliant journalist, an extraordinary politician and statesman, a great war leader and British Prime Minister, to whom the Western world must be forever in his debt. He was a prophet in his own time. He died on 24th January 1965, at the grand old age of 90 and, after a lifetime of service to his country, was accorded a State funeral.

HERE IS THE SPEECH

"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries!  Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.  A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity.
The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.  Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world.

Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith.  It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome."

What Are the Chinese Thinking?

It's interesting; many people from many countries have many criticisms against Americans, but given the choice, they will live just like we do.

Here's an article from Ad Hedge, err, Zero Hedge discussing the brilliance of the Chinese. It's amazing after all these years anyone, anywhere has any trust in government.

How A Chinese Farmer Lost More Than Everything Trading Stocks

Last night, just six weeks after one Chinese farmer Liu Jianguo invested his life savings in the Chinese market, proclaiming "it's a lot easier making money from stocks than farm work," we wondered if it was time for a sequel:

"I don't know what to do... I trusted the government too much..." he exclaims, adding "I won't touch stocks again, I have ruined everyone in my family."

Read the rest here.

While I was putting this piece together I became curious about one other data point:

"In a report titled “Future Diets,” the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) used data covering a period of about 28 years from India, China, and Mexico, among others, to demonstrate the trend toward obesity in developing nations. The ODI analysis revealed that between the years of 1980 and 2008, obesity effectively tripled in the developing countries examined, resulting in a total of about 904 million obese citizens. The ODI describes this trend as a veritable “fat explosion.”

According to this research, India alone is credited with approximately 1.46 billion people now considered overweight or obese, with a national rate of those deemed overweight or obese of about 11 percent. Similar rates of obesity are seen among younger adults in China, particularly those between the ages of 20 and 39, with the country overall seeing obesity rates at about double what they were just over 30 years ago."

Was the Euro Doomed or Planned to Fail?

Consider the following from theguardian :

"Mundell explained to me that, in fact, the euro is of a piece with Reaganomics:

Monetary discipline forces fiscal discipline on the politicians as well.

And when crises arise, economically disarmed nations have little to do but wipe away government regulations wholesale, privatize state industries en masse, slash taxes (fail) and send the European welfare state down the drain. (up next)'"

What is happening in Greece is according to plan. An old, old plan. Nothing new about these results according to the playbook that these "Eurocrats" are using.

Greece now and next who? In no particular order: France, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, etc. They will ALL end up in financial ruin, driven there by Germany. Germany may just be driving everyone to war as was done twice in the last hundred or so years.

Zerohedge? Or is it "Ad Hedge"

If you like being bombarded by ads when you're reading articles on a fringe blog largely frequented by angry, white conspiracy theorists, then Zerohedge is the place for you.

I've recently been banned from that site for having the audacity to write satire about the number of ads there. How many times has my ipod/PC/phone gotten hung up trying to display the plethora of ads on his page? There's obnoxious and then there's just, "whore" behavior.

Coming from a site that is wrought with satire and the debasement of others, run by a proprietor who has taken the name "Tyler Durden", after the thick skinned fighter in "Fight Club", the fact that I've been banned is comical.

"Tyler" embarrasses himself by taking such offense. A name change is definitely required. May I recommend one?

Bitchboy.

One Bank To Rule Them All

Will it work? Do you have ultimate faith in the world's central banks? Are you willing to bow down to your new central banking overlords?

"The powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent private meetings and conferences. The apex of the system was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basle, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world's central banks which were themselves private corporations. Each central bank, in the hands of men like Montagu Norman of the Bank of England, Benjamin Strong of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, Charles Rist of the Bank of France, and Hjalmar Schacht of the Reichsbank, sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world."
